Biography

Nayt is a rapper and songwriter whose music combines technical precision with an increasingly personal, melodic approach. Born William Mezzanotte in Isernia on 9 November 1994, he grew up in Rome, where he began writing his first songs in 2009. His work explores insecurity, relationships, identity and the difficulty of understanding oneself, often moving between rapid, tightly constructed verses and quieter passages. Over time, that balance between verbal intensity and emotional openness has become central to his musical identity.

His recording career began with the single “No Story” in 2011, followed by his debut album Nayt One in 2012 on the independent label 40 Ladroni Records. The record included appearances by Primo Brown and Emis Killa, placing the young rapper in contact with established voices while he was still developing his own style. A lasting partnership with producer 3D took shape around the 2014 EP Six of Sixteen. Their collaboration became the foundation of much of his subsequent work, giving his writing a consistent musical setting as his delivery and subject matter evolved.

The Raptus series helped establish Nayt with a wider rap audience. Beginning with the 2015 mixtape, continuing through Raptus 2 in 2017 and concluding with Raptus 3 in 2019, it brought together restless flows, personal reflection and a growing command of melody. Alongside these releases, Un bacio appeared in 2016, revealing another side of his developing songwriting. Collaborations with Gemitaiz on “Autovelox” and MadMan on “Fame” connected him with other technically accomplished rappers. Raptus 3 reached number two on the Italian album chart, marking a significant breakthrough after years of independent releases.

With MOOD in 2020, Nayt moved further towards an introspective form of songwriting in which atmosphere and vulnerability carried as much weight as the complexity of his verses. DOOM, released in 2021, developed that approach through darker reflections, while HABITAT followed in 2023 with questions about belonging, emotional connection and his place in the world. These records form a connected phase of his career, showing how his technical background could support more spacious arrangements and direct expressions of uncertainty. His voice increasingly became both a rhythmic instrument and a means of carrying melody.

Lettera Q, released in 2024, widened the focus towards relationships with other people and the responsibilities that come with personal awareness. The album included Ernia on “Se corri”, alongside songs addressing choice, social expectations and the experiences of women. In 2026, Nayt made his debut in the main competition at the Sanremo Festival with “Prima che”, bringing his combination of rap technique and melodic songwriting to a broader audience. Released on 20 March that year, io Individuo continued his examination of identity and human connection, extending a career built around the changing relationship between personal experience, self-questioning and music.

Nayt One (2012)

Nayt - Nayt One (2012)

Released on 7 May 2012 through 40 Ladroni Records, Nayt One is Nayt’s debut studio album, arriving when he was seventeen. Its twelve tracks include “No Story”, the single released the previous year that first drew attention to his music. Produced by 3D, that song also documents how early the connection between rapper and producer began, several years before their work together at VNT1 became the foundation of his independent career.

The guests place the newcomer alongside several different voices. Primo Brown appears on “Chi sono”, Emis Killa joins him on “Non ce n’è”, and Zz and G-Lu contribute to “40”. Around those collaborations, songs including “Non vedi”, “Trova di meglio”, “Via di fuga” and “Punto isolato” give Nayt space to establish himself across a full-length release. The opening sequence is unusual: “No Story” comes first, with “Intro” following as the second track.

The record belongs to a distinct first chapter of his career. After leaving 40 Ladroni, Nayt would rebuild his working relationship with 3D around a more independent approach, leading to Six of Sixteen and the Raptus projects. That makes Nayt One a document of his first recording environment, featuring both the single that introduced him and encounters with rappers who already had an established presence.

Nayt - Raptus (2015)

Released on 28 May 2015 as a free download, Raptus is Nayt’s second mixtape and the beginning of the three-part series completed in 2019. The original release contained fifteen tracks, with guest appearances by Tormento and Saint. Recorded, mixed and mastered by 3D at Rome’s Bunker Studio, it emerged from an intensive period of writing: in an interview at the time, Nayt said he had written more than a hundred songs and recorded over sixty during the preceding year.

Nayt described the project as the outcome of a difficult, uncertain period rather than a carefully predetermined concept. That background helps explain its mixtape format, which gave him room to try different approaches without having to settle on one musical direction. Original productions appeared alongside tracks using existing instrumentals, allowing the release to function as an outlet for material accumulated through experimentation and creative blocks.

The title track opens the project, followed by “Mama”, “Dal cielo” and “Un’altra dichiarazione d’amore”, featuring Tormento. Saint appears on “Tutto quello che c’è”, while Skioffi produced “Noi due”. The original sequence also included “Insomnia”, “Io non pago”, “Se non rappo”, “La mia musica” and “Io, il rap”, songs absent from the later ten-track edition.

That distinction matters when listening on streaming services. For the 2019 Raptus Collection, the first mixtape was revisited, with some material rearranged and five tracks omitted. The ten-song version therefore represents the later presentation of the project rather than its complete original form. What began as a freely distributed experiment eventually became the first chapter of a trilogy, but its origins were more immediate: Nayt using the mixtape to work through uncertainty and discover what he wanted his music to become.

Nayt - Un bacio (2016)

ReleasedReleased on 12 January 2016 through VNT1 Records, Un bacio is Nayt’s second studio album. Its original ten-track edition lasts around thirty-two minutes and contains no featured vocal guests. Following the more open-ended mixtape format of Raptus, this release keeps the focus on Nayt across a shorter, self-contained sequence, beginning with the title track and closing with “Ghiaccio”.

Between those bookends are “Spettri”, “Fingono”, “Sei qui”, “Voglio di più”, “Ancora in piedi”, “Lulu”, “Sul mio palco” and “Niente da perdere”. The project became personally significant beyond its place in his discography. Looking back in 2026, Nayt identified Un bacio as an important record that helped him understand aspects of himself, connecting this period with the beginning of therapy that he continued for several years.

The Deluxe Edition, released on 16 May 2016, substantially changes the listening sequence. Six songs from the earlier Six of Sixteen EP—“Fuori”, “Un giorno nero”, “Una sola”, “Via da qui”, “Forse” and “Come fare”—are placed before the original album. Acoustic versions of “Fingono” and “Lulu”, followed by “Cos’è l’amore?”, appear afterwards, bringing the total to nineteen tracks. Rather than simply adding a few songs at the end, this edition surrounds Un bacio with earlier material and alternative performances, giving a broader picture of Nayt’s work during this stage of his partnership with 3D. on 12

Nayt - Raptus 2 (2017)

Released on 27 June 2017 through VNT1 Records, Raptus 2 followed a two-month crowdfunding campaign on Musicraiser. The campaign helped bring a year of work to release, with “Brillo”, “Poveri” and “Spaghetti” appearing beforehand. Its independent production and direct support from listeners are important parts of the album’s background, preceding the major-label exposure that would accompany the next instalment.

Production is credited to 3D and Skioffi. The fourteen-track release contains twelve principal songs and two reinterpretations, opening with “Rap2s” and moving through material including “Freestyle 21”, “Davvero”, “Pezzi di me” and “Non mi ricordo di te”. The sequence gives Nayt a larger framework than the later streaming edition of the first Raptus, while retaining the series’ emphasis on trying different forms of delivery and song construction.

Gemitaiz appears on “Autovelox”, Jesto joins him on “Nessuno”, and Skioffi also takes a vocal role on “Money”. These are the three guest appearances among the main tracks. Their presence broadens the record without turning it into a succession of features, leaving most of the running time to Nayt himself.

The closing versions of “Poveri” and “Gola” are especially distinctive: the former is reworked in a folk setting, the latter as a trio jazz performance. Both were included in the release’s fourteen-track presentation, rather than being unrelated additions from a much later deluxe campaign. By returning to songs already heard in the main sequence, they invite a direct comparison between arrangements and show that experimentation within the Raptus series extended beyond fast rapping and electronic production.

Nayt - Raptus, Vol. 3 (2019)

Released on 15 March 2019 through Jive Records and Sony Music Italy, Raptus 3 completes the trilogy begun four years earlier. Entirely produced by 3D for VNT1, it contains eleven tracks and runs for around twenty-eight minutes. Its brevity was deliberate: discussing the album, Nayt explained that he wanted to communicate something powerful in a concise, accessible way without making the writing banal.

The central concern is honesty, particularly the uncomfortable process of examining one’s own behaviour. In interviews, Nayt spoke about questioning the excuses people make for themselves, acknowledging responsibility and writing openly even when the result might damage the image he projected. This gives the record a more specific purpose than a general expression of anger or ambition: the force of the delivery accompanies an effort to confront his own contradictions.

“Per essere vivi” introduces another question running through the project: how to make music that reaches an audience while retaining personal and artistic value. Nayt discussed the tension between expression and the commercial realities of releasing records, wanting his songs to succeed without treating them simply as products. His working method with 3D reflected that attention to the complete song; he described taking part in production sessions and helping guide atmosphere and arrangement, even without formal musical training.

“Animal”, “Brutti sogni”, “Gli occhi della tigre” and “Fame”, featuring MadMan, built attention before the album arrived. MadMan is the only featured rapper on the record, which also includes “La mia voce”, “Effetto domino”, “A Silvia” and “Inferno”. An appearance on Real Talk further increased interest in Nayt’s technical ability. The album subsequently reached number two on the Italian chart, bringing much wider recognition to the independent work behind the trilogy.

That breakthrough also exposed a tension Nayt would address later. Looking back during the release of Lettera Q, he said that audiences had responded strongly to the more sensational aspects of Raptus 3 while missing some of its deeper intentions. The resulting questions about how listeners perceived him contributed to a writing crisis, later explored on MOOD. The album therefore closes the first trilogy while helping explain why his next phase placed a different emphasis on vulnerability and communication.

Nayt - MOOD (2020

Released on 4 December 2020, MOOD is Nayt’s fifth studio album and his first full-length project after Raptus 3. Produced with his longtime collaborator 3D, the original 13-track album combines the technical precision of his earlier work with a more introspective approach. Nayt presents it as a journey through contrasting emotional states, using the red and blue of its cover to suggest both conflict and the search for balance.

The album emerged from a period in which Nayt questioned what success meant to him. In “Il blocco dello scrittore”, the difficulty of writing becomes part of a wider examination of ambition and dissatisfaction. “Favolacce” also reflects that period: Nayt explained that, having achieved the recognition he had pursued, he began to question whether competition and financial success could provide what he was looking for.

“Musica Ovunque” opens the record and places music at the centre of its emotional world, while “Grazie Prego Scusa” was released ahead of the album. Elsewhere, “Passerà” gives space to a more melodic side of Nayt’s delivery. “Lividi”, featuring MezzoSangue, is the original album’s only guest collaboration, bringing another distinctive voice into a project otherwise focused on Nayt’s own perspective.

Across tracks including “Vero”, “Scuola” and “Fuori fa paura”, MOOD moves between personal uncertainty and observations about the world around him. Its closing songs, “Rollin Roma” and “Nuvole”, complete a record that places as much emphasis on emotional expression as on rapping technique. A 2021 edition added “Tutto il resto è noi” and acoustic versions of “Favolacce” and “Passerà”.

The album also began a creative journey that continued on DOOM in 2021. Nayt described the later record as a continuation that went deeper into the doubts and anxieties explored on MOOD, making the two projects closely connected chapters in his development.

Nayt - DOOM (2021)

Released on 29 October 2021, DOOM is Nayt’s sixth studio album and a companion to MOOD. Its title reverses the letters of its predecessor, reflecting the connection between the two records. Where MOOD explored contrasting emotional states, DOOM takes the journey into darker territory, examining anxiety, fear and the difficulty of finding meaning. Nayt described it as a movement from hitting a low point towards greater awareness and the possibility of starting again.

The opening title track introduces the album’s unsettled atmosphere, followed by “Cose che non vuoi sentirti dire”, produced by Gemitaiz. “Mortale” and “La mia noia”, both released before the album, bring questions of mortality and dissatisfaction to the foreground. Nayt’s delivery moves between forceful rap and more reflective passages, with the production supporting the changes in mood.

The record also gives its journey an unusual shape. “(partenza)” runs for more than seven minutes, while “(arrivo?)” appears later in the tracklist with a question mark in its title. Between them are “Collane”, produced by Frenetik & Orang3, and “Sorpresa”, produced by Orang3. Nayt’s longtime collaborator 3D handles most of the production across the album.

“OPSS” brings together Nayt, Gemitaiz and Mattak for the album’s only guest vocal appearances. Its emphasis on rapping technique offers a change of pace within a record otherwise dominated by Nayt’s personal reflections. Gemitaiz’s involvement extends beyond his verse: he also produced “Cose che non vuoi sentirti dire”.

The final tracks, “Da zero” and “Ultima confessione”, bring the album back towards the idea of confronting uncertainty and moving forward. Across its 12 tracks, DOOM continues the introspection of MOOD while giving Nayt room to explore a more troubled emotional landscape. The two albums form connected stages in a journey that he would continue on HABITAT in 2023.

Nayt - HABITAT (2023)

Released on 16 June 2023, HABITAT is Nayt’s seventh studio album and the third part of the introspective journey begun with MOOD and DOOM. Its central idea is the search for a place in the world: an environment in which a person can understand who they are and live with greater honesty. Across the original 13 tracks, Nayt connects that search to relationships, social pressures and his own place within music.

The opening “FRAGILE” approaches vulnerability with an energetic, confrontational delivery. Its title is written in capitals while the other track titles appear in lowercase, a contrast Nayt said was deliberate: he wanted to draw attention to the strength that can exist within fragility. “guerra dentro” moves between personal conflict and criticism of the pressures and expectations of the music industry.

The album also gives considerable space to relationships and the fear of separation. “cosa conta davvero” and “romantico finale” bring a more melodic tone, while “se ne va” moves further from rap towards songwriting and melody. Nayt has described the latter as a song about the difficulty of accepting abandonment, with distorted voices towards its end expressing confusion and fear.

“provare qualcosa” was released as a single from the project, and “solo domande” returns to the questions that run through the album. The original tracklist closes with “wertigini”, produced by Orang3. Most of the record was produced by Nayt’s longtime collaborator 3D, and there are no guest vocal appearances, keeping the focus on Nayt throughout.

HABITAT debuted at number two on the Italian albums chart and number one on the vinyl chart. It was accompanied by a short film directed by Antonio Chiricò, in which Nayt also appears. As the closing chapter following MOOD and DOOM, the album extends his personal reflections towards the wider question of how people find a place where they belong.

Nayt - Lettera Q (2024)

Released on 22 November 2024, Lettera Q is Nayt’s eighth studio album. Following the introspective trilogy of MOOD, DOOM and HABITAT, it looks further outward, exploring how personal growth depends on contact with other people as well as self-examination. Across 12 tracks, Nayt combines rap with melodic songwriting and a careful attention to language.

The title gives the album its central image. Nayt sees the letter Q as a circle that has been broken open, representing the possibility of escaping unhealthy habits and repeated patterns of thought. Rather than presenting himself as someone with all the answers, he uses the songs to ask questions and encourage listeners to examine their own experiences.

“Certe bugie”, released ahead of the album, brings together memories and conflicting thoughts as Nayt considers the stories people tell themselves. “Di abbattere le mura (18 Donne)” pays tribute to women who have influenced him, naming both public figures and people he has encountered personally. The song broadens the album’s conversation beyond his own life, recognising the importance of listening to other voices and experiences.

There are two guest collaborations. Ernia joins Nayt on “Se corri”, while singer Scozia appears on “Monalisa”, a piano-led song that gives her voice space at the centre of the track. Elsewhere, “Non è fortuna” addresses Nayt’s ability and the work behind it, while “La grande fuga”, “Ieri” and “Un’altra strada” contribute to the album’s reflections on change and the possibility of finding a different direction.

The closing “Poter scegliere” ends the record in a restrained style, leaving the emphasis on Nayt’s words. Lettera Q was followed by La Grande Fuga Tour in 2025, taking the album to audiences across Italy. The record continues the personal writing of his previous projects while placing dialogue, choice and connection with others at the heart of its ideas.

Nayt - io Individuo (2026)

Released on 20 March 2026, io Individuo continues Nayt’s exploration of identity and the relationship between the individual and society. Across 13 tracks, he considers family, friendship, love and the pressures that shape how people see themselves. The title’s unusual capitalisation is deliberate: Nayt places “io” in lowercase and gives prominence to “Individuo”, shifting attention away from his own ego and towards the wider idea of the individual.

The album includes “Prima che”, the song with which Nayt made his debut at the 2026 Sanremo Festival, finishing sixth. Produced by Zef, it asks what remains when social conventions and habits are stripped away from relationships. The earlier single “Un uomo” introduces another of the record’s central questions, examining what it means to be a man.

Nayt described “Un uomo”, “Origini – Interludio” and “Punto d’incontro” as a sequence connected to his own experiences and his efforts to understand their roots. The first interlude includes the voice of his mother, while “Punto d’incontro” reaches towards a greater understanding of women and the distance he feels between their experiences and his own.

“Stupido pensiero” features Elisa, the album’s guest vocalist. Nayt said the song was created from scratch during a long studio session together and described it as one of the pieces in his catalogue of which he was most proud. Elsewhere, “L’astronauta” includes a sample connected to Noemi, while “Essere noi” moves towards a rock and pop ballad sound.

The album opens with “Scrivendo” and closes with “Contraddizioni – Interludio”, giving the project a sense of a continuing cycle of reflection. The final interlude features the voice of one of Nayt’s mentors and addresses contradictions within both individuals and society. Following Lettera Q, io Individuo develops his interest in dialogue through a direct question: how can people understand one another and remain together?uo (2026)
